My Story

by Mercy

Well, my name is Mercy, he is Josh, and here is how we met.

I had just gotten out of a turbulent relationship that had lasted 7 months too long and I just wanted to find someone that I had stuff in common with and could hang out with. I was not looking for love or anything remotely close to what I found.

I was surfing Craigslist looking for a job or something and I decided to check out the M for F personals. The first few ads I clicked on were filled mostly with things like "HOT DADDY LOOKING FOR TIGHT LITTLE GIRLIE TO LICK MY LOVE STICK" or they had the classic beginning of "Ok, so I swear I am not a creep or anything..." The worst ones were the ticking time bombs. They would be named something like "just want to hangout" and as soon as you clicked on the link.... BOOM!... a photo of a 50 year old man's johnson reflected in the mirror with the person's face fuzzed out. Ewwwwww.

Well, after a bunch or ads like that I came across one that said something like "Wanna go get coffee?" I clicked on it, and the ad seemed nice and sincere and his photo was cute -- a young white guy with a cute face and short brown hair. I replied to him, but he was in another state visiting a relative so we just decided to talk over the internet until he got back.

This is where it starts to get weird.

On our first date when he was walking me back home from the vegan cafe where we went to for dinner, he stopped in front of my house and said "I know this house.....I know you... I've delivered pizza here... and I talked to you while you were signing your bill!" Then I started to remember, too. After that, we hit it off right away and soon we were hanging out all the time.

Now it gets even stranger.

Even though we were not dating yet he wanted to introduce me to his parents. So, we went to dinner with them and all went according to plan. His mother asked me a lot of things about my life and family, but I thought nothing of it. Josh told me the next day, "It was the middle of the night last night and I was in my room sleeping...all of a sudden my mother bursts into my room, flicks on the light and says 'I know where I know her from... I work with her father!'" It turns out that our parents worked together at the same Home Depot and had talked to each other about us before.

Well, it has been a little less than a year and we are doing wonderfully. We moved from Tucson to New Mexico together and share an apartment.
